Discussion: It is a layer of big stones in N part of the extension paralel to the edge of the extension so visible in W section of the main trench. The layer was placed on the brown mudbrick wall (probably Roman in date) which could also be seen in W section of the main trench.
The layer of stones was forming a basenent for a mudbrick wall 6952 and also partly for a mudbrick wall 8987. Some of these stones wrere also placed on the floor (unit 8986) lying between those two walls which were forming a shape of L. However after removing these walls it seemed that all the stones (both those under the walls and on the floor) were forming one layer but it is important to notice that only those stones under the walls were placed insitu and the floor (unit 8986) was against it (so it was later in date) and those few stones lying on the floor must have been removed from their primary position - they had the traces of being cut.
The x finds of these unit (worked.stone and ground stone) were the integral elements of the layer - they were forming it. Between the stones of the layer sand was found and the inclusions of this unit cone from it.
The stones differed much in size (that is why the lowest of the unit doffered and ranget from 1017,50 to 1017,67).
