Unit 11975
Category: Skeleton dug in 2005
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: neolithic neonate
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: 0.15m NS x .17 m EW
Discussion: This Neolithic neonate was in a very small burial cut which was excavated adjacent to the South wall of space 265. The cut and the burial fill were distinct. There was a small bin in the same area in the level above the one in which the cut was made. The burial was not part of the bin but rather had been there prior to the construction of the bin. The head of the neonate was against the South wall of space. The body was on its stomach in a 'frog' position whereby the arms and legs are splayed and then converge around the head. The cut was noticeably small and shallow. This neonate was a similar age to 5 other neonates found in this space (sk 11973, 11972, 11979, 11959) within close proximity and depth to sk 11975.
