Discussion: Fills cut 12117. Cuts through pit 12120 and is truncated on the north by late foundation trench. We were excavating the room fill (12114) when we noticed that this unit had a midden-like color and texture and thus was probably not room fill, so we chose to excavate it separately. We proceeded by mattock and trowel. We stopped when we noticed another color and texture change.

Consistency: friable 

Colour: mainly dark brown, with darker and ashy lenses 

Texture: clayey silt (similar to midden) 

Bedding: fine layers of ash, charcoal, mudbrick 

Inclusions: ash, mudbrick, charcoal, a few finds: bone, ceramic, obsidian 

Post-depositional Features: rodent holes 

Basal Boundary: unclear
