Discussion: There were patches or splotches on top of the layer in almost circular patterns; overall, the layer looked like the mortar in between the bricks in the wall to the west of this layer. We think that they made a cut into the burnt material surrounding this layer to build the wall, and after building the wall filled the trench. This deposit would be an upper fill of the foundation trench for wall F1523.
