Discussion: Layer is probably associated with infilling/making up the ground level to be plastered. Four stones and an obsidian piece were found directly on top of this layer. The finds may be the remenents or the entiriety of a cache. The stones are very flat and theoritically could be used as bead blanks. If so this may add towards explanation for the pit's construction - a storage cache. If so, presumably the stones were quite rare and carried value to go to the trouble of digging a pit and then plastering over. Given the location of all the finds directly on top of the to be excavated layer they are not thought to be fortutious.
