Unit 1314
Category: layer dug in 1996
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: bin fill
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: bin; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: The north of the unit there were lots of burnt wooden, bones and building materials, inside the collapse.
On the North East of the relief which is on the south wall, the scapula was found. The small pieces of it are in a bag (1314.X2).
In this unit, all around of the area was covered same kind of building material (burnt mud brick pieces, ashes, bones).
Inside bottom edge of the thin wall which extend from south to north in Space 71, a line of charred lentils were found. Most probably they weren't in situ because there was animal route at the bottom of the wall, and we found the charred remains in this route (1314.S4). But later to the east of this route, we found again a group of lentils (1314.S6) beneath a fallen mud brick and over a stone that we didn't know what it was. After that we left this area and continued to remove the other part of the Unit 1314.We reached the same level all around the unit.
One obsidian, burnt wood, shell, bone and mud brick fragment (20 x 14 cm) were found.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.

Unit description: Most fauna grouped under 2 X numbers. X1 consists entirely of probably wild goat horn cores related to 1344, and presumably associated skull fragments. All are quite fragmentary, and show the whole range of burning from unburnt to calcined. Most of the carbonized specimens have the same vitrified deposit on inner + outer surfaces seen in 1344. X3 largely consists of more probably wild goat horn cores and associated skull, all charred and with the vitrified deposit. These are somewhat less fragmentary, but still do not include any measurable specimens. They are, however, clearly morphologically wild. Most are lefts, whereas 1344 has mostly rights. Is this a vertical or horizontal separation? There are also several other bones, burnt to varying degrees. Some of these bones have the dull gray-brown that seems to result from burning while smothered in ash. X2 is an unburnt worked scapula. The non-Xed bone consists of a few small fragments of mostly sheep-size taxa, all burnt (carbonized or calcined). This includes a few further bits of skull and horn core that likely belong to the horn cache. 100% of flotation sample processed. Most of the 4mm bone is horn core and skull fragments; also some other sheep-size scrap up to ca. 3 cm. About half is carbonized, a little unburnt, the rest burnt or calcined.
