Interpretive Categories: collapsed oven structure

Data Category Information: In Situ: non in-situ; Location: building; Material: re-used brick&mortar; Deposition: homogeneous

Dimensions: 0.30m (E-W) x 0.34m (N-S) x 0.10m (thick)

Discussion: collapsed oven superstructure
very similar on constitution as 14803, may be identical or at least part of the same process of collapse.
Strat a little ambiguous as appeared to be sealed by a later fill sequence (14809); however, it can also clearly be seen sealing a later fill, suggesting this may be the earliest hearth structure.
The wall from which this collapse was probably situated (originally) slightly to the east.

Recognition: sealing earlier fill. Different to surrounding material

Definition: fairly clear, although quite similar to 14803, same type of material

Execution: plan, record, trowel, bag, flotation

Condition: dusty, dry

Consistency: fairly homogenous, compact, cemented

Colour: light grey brown

Texture: slightly silty sand

Bedding: massive

Inclusions: occasional - moderate charcoal flecks

Post-depositional Features: possibly some truncation to the north and west, although deposit is so small anyway remains unclear

Basal Boundary: very clear, sitting on ash
