Discussion: Mudbricks in mudbrick wall F.5052, the eastern wall of space 340.

JHB 2012: Unit 16856 is the upper part of the buttress F.5052. We learned from buttress F.5057 to expect a smaller, older phase of buttress construction within the buttresses of B.98, so far buttress 5052, we excavated the newer, larger buttress first, or as best we could given the nebulous interface beteen the two phases (at least until the bottom, near the floor, where it is clearer). 16856 is similar to 16869, the upper part of buttress 5057. By removing a 10cm layer of dried soil, we were better able to understand the interface between F.5052 and the wall F.3335. F.5052 abuts the wall F.3335, which extends across the length of 5052 to the north. Originally it was believed that F.3335 ended at the eastern edge of 5052 and abutted F.2428, which is not the case.
