Unit 1739
Category: layer dug in 1996
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: oven fills
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: oven
Dimensions: max N-S: 1.24 max E-W: 0.55 thickness: 0.02
Discussion: Taking out the second floor of oven. The floor is made of coarse clay, hardened by fire. State of preservation medium. The plaster wash* seems in section to cover the floor, but it was not observed in plan. It is therefore verified that the wash was the preparation for the last floor of the oven. These two last phases of the oven occupied an area smaller than its original plan, while its mouth seems to have been blocked by pieces of mudbrick. Presumably this was made to compensate for one rising of the floor levels inside the house. *referred to in unit 1736.
