Discussion: Mixed lumps and fragments of building rubble, mudbrick, mortar, wall/floor plaster fragments (finely layered) and white lumps of mortar material. Crudely fashioned (irregular in spread and contour) feature to raise and model the ridge/kerb which runs eastward from here. Overlies and sits at N end of (17915) a N-S aligned single (and realtively narrow) course of bricks that creat a kerb, in alignment with *** F.**** to the north thereby creating division of spaces Sp.334 to west and Sp.335 to east. Tthe kerb extends to the east but where it has been modelled by the last infilling of earlier building and in subsequent phases becomes more pronounced or not as needed?

The sequence therefore appears to be continuous with the construction activity: the earlier building is infilled, the location of features seem to be sketched out with deposits of rubble and packing material , other features more substantially laid out (F.** to north and F.1053 to east) area levelled off and then features plastered. . Appears that dry sieve volume of zero is valid 19/08/09 SAJ

Recognition: lumpy, mixed construction debris, rubble like

Consistency: firm

Colour: mixed lumps, and fragments (medium sized) of white layered plaster, homogenous white mortar (?), light grey brown brick fragments, mid orange brown brick fragments

Texture: differential due to mixed composition

Bedding: single event of rubble

Inclusions: sterile

Post-depositional Features: animal run

Basal Boundary: fairly clean, sitting on lower construction horizon

Finds Room Information:

All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
