Unit 18989
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: plaster layer on platform F.3441
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: plaster; Deposition: homogeneous; Basal Spit: unpainted
Description: This unit is a white plaster layer with quite friable consistency of soil and massive, homogeneous bedding.
Discussion: This unit is a platform layer situated next to the platform / bench unit (u.20087) and NW platform (F3442). We were taking the platform down to the next visible layer to determine if this layer and the platform or bench next to it could be somehow connected.
When we began it was easy to follow the white plaster layer - it contained at least 4 very thin layers of plaster. Then we reached the next distinguishable plaster layer underneath.
As if further back and changed elevation it became harder to follow - possibly gaining down 3 or 4 layers which we had previously been following.
