Discussion: This unit was easily distinguishable from the overlying homogenous fill (u.18994) by its bright white colour and flat, even surface. It was interpreted as a surviving patch of floor prior to the abandonment of the house (B.80). Its section revealed that this layer was the uppermost of several plaster/make-up sequences. Excavation of this unit was undertaken carefully with a trowel and revealed a stratigraphically lower level of make-up (u.18998).
