Unit 20075
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: Hearth Superstructure and Floor Packing
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: hearth; Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: Layer is a friable hearh superstructure, the next under U. 20052, and it appears to include and connect with a layer of floor packing to the W. that extends to wall F. 5036.
Discussion: The unit was recognized as a distinct layer after the removal of U. 20052, a previous hearth superstucture. It appears as though this hearth superstructure also articulates and is the same as a layer of grayish clay packing to the West of F. 3436. Therefore this layer was probably built up as a hearth superstructure on the sides of the hearth and then extended to the W. over what appears to be a patch of dirty floors that lap up onto F. 5036, possibly in order to level the area or re-structure the hearth.
