Discussion: Excavated in 2015:
This cut is defined as the fill of burial cut U.21528, which contained an infant lying immediately on top of an adult skeleton. The top of the fill was very hard clay mixed with some ash and charcoal, but closer to the skeletons the soil became siltier and less compact, although parts of it were still very solid. A lot of reddish mudbrick fragments were found, especially closer to the skeletons.
Consistency: Firm (towards top), soft (closer to skeleton)
Colour: Light grey, mid brown, yellowish brown (heterogeneous)
Texture: Packed clay, silty clay, ash
Bedding: Compound layered
Inclusions: Charcoal, plaster fragments, mudbrick fragments
Post-depositional Features: Animal burrowing
Basal Boundary: Clear, distinct, irregular, anthropic/sedimentological
