Unit 21546
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Bricks
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: re-used brick&mortar; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: U21546 was recognized as a course of bricks, possibly a wall or part of foundation wall after removal of F7341 that was partially overlying this unit and partially the leftover infill of space 527 (U21356). After removal of this last unit it become apparent that it only contains 1 course of 2 almost identical bricks (each 73 cm long, 28 wide and 10 cm thick) sitting on top of infill (U21547 same as U21356). The E brick had plaster on its N face and W brick on its S face, which indicates that they were reused. The Unit was interpreted as part of F7341 as foundation walls of B113 proved to be very irregular and the courses of bricks are rarely directly on top of each other. The E brick of this Unit was sitting directly on bottom brick of wall 7613.
