Discussion: The layer U.21670 was recorded within the whole interior of Sp.531, directly below the thick (ca. 50cm), compact room-fill (21622 in N part; 21654 in S part). The unit was comprised of varied type of sediments and components that differed along its surface in particular locations. However, in the course of the exploration it appeared that the diverse sediments overlapped each other. For that reasons the decision had been made to treat this layer as one stratum related with the earliest deposit that was loaded into the abandoned building. It seems that the accumulation process associated with sealing the space was complex in nature and must have been extended in time, due to the enormous area restricted by the remaining walls. That may explain compound character of the layer which comprised of fragments of mid-orange clay elements accompanied frequently by the cream and white debris of plasters. The latter components dominated in Southern and Western part of the space covering almost whole surface of the floor (31540). Its Northern and Eastern segment was coated totally by composite sediments of the same rubble material immersed, however, in more sandy-silt (brown) surroundings. In the mentioned locations the orange clay components were also more dispersed in the upper strata.
The thickness of the Unit (21670) differed considerably due to the uneven floor surface which was sunken in several places. Accordingly the deposit reached the depth between 2cm-18cm.
The nature of the recorded material remains uncertain. Nevertheless, the orange clay components reminded parts of the make-up, and considering their association with flakes of plaster one may assume that both elements are parts of ceiling construction. For further analyzes of that issue two samples (S4, S5) had been additionally collected. The above mentioned interpretation may be supported by the small amount of the artefacts. That is why one of them (X1) might be regarded as the part of abandonment deposit rather than the inclusion of the layer, however, its placement 4 cm above the floor (31540) allocated the bone under the number of the room-fill (21670).
