Unit 22216
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Infill between floors,Make-up to floor u22224
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: floor (packing only); Material: re-used brick&mortar; Deposition: heterogeneous
Discussion: Top part of layer was light brown infill material. Plaster was evident around edges of unit along wall so this was investigated at the west side of (22215) possible brick and at northern end of space 91. Floating patches of plaster were revealed and small areas of compacted black patches, particularly towards space 92. This was investigated as a possible dirt floor but interpreted as the underside of a plaster floor (22224). The plaster at northern end at wall f2185 and inside eastern wall f2106 were investigated and it was determined that a plaster floor underlies 22216 which is a make-up layer between floors. Following removal of wall f2185, it was found that the infill underlies this wall but was much more compacted.
