Unit 22246
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: brick (?) latter adittion of bench/wall 2184
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: u 22246 looks like some kind of brick (even if its composition is unusual… maybe due to the burning event), added in the continuity of wall/bench F2184. It sits on top of a continous plaster layer (making here a nice curve) connecting u 22247 (f7636) and u 22238 (f 7638). U 22246 was thus maybe added here in order to reinforce spatial division beetween the two platforms (plaster between 22246 and the crest of F2184). Indeed, latter plaster layers were runing up the brick as well as the rest of the wall/bench F2184, creating a single and longer partition feature (cf sketch)
Consistency: friable
Colour: dark brownish grey
Texture: silty clay
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: none
Post-depositional Features: burnt (burning of B52) even if it was not exposed at this point (covered by latter platforms) ; rodent and wasp burrows
Basal Boundary: very sharp, constructional : plaster layer connecting u 22247 (f7636) and u 22238 (f 7638). Brighter, firmer, whiter.
