Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: occupation; Deposition: single
Discussion: Unit is a well preserved, smooth, clay surface deposited completely continuously in the area of the dirty part of the building containing the sunken floor, platform F 7401, and the area under the ladder platform. This surface is smooth, and only heavily eroded in the area just e of the hearth. The surface is thin and slopes downward to the w and follows the elevated position of the platform F 7401, and laps up to the s. onto the floors that the oven base F 7412 is set into. Therefore, it seems like this floor represents the end of the phase of the building before the construction of the ladder platform, while the earlier oven was still in use. It represents the importance of these, later individually constructed and maintained spaces (the sunken floor, the ladder platform, the small platform), as once connected by a cohesive function series of construction events. In the dirty space, from this surface, there appears to be development from a connected and cohesive space to a more architecturally compartmentalized design.
