Unit 22668
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: plaster on hearth
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: hearth; Material: plaster; Deposition: homogeneous; Basal Spit: unpainted
Discussion: This unit is the last layer of plaster applied to hearth F. 7957 in B. 131, though in the center a very thin patch of extra plaster remained, so this may represent two plastering events of the hearth being considered as one. It was easy to recognize by its grey colour and different consistency. It was excavated with trowel. The phytolith analysis of this layer returned an assortment of chaff and leaves consistent with burning dung. After this last use layer of the hearth, it was packed with clean makeup material (u. 22658) and the building was filled in as a whole.
