Unit 2270
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Room fill
Data Category Information: none
Description: 30.7.98.NY It was massive hard soil. Underneath this unit there was burnt floor, probably a fire installation floor, has been found and also some lines (probably roof).
Unit stretches to E wall.
Discussion: By some error two sets of Xfinds were recorded for this unit, so there are 2 of each Xfinds 1-5, at which point someone realized what was happening and began numbering them at X.12 in hopes that this mistake can be fixed and the Xfinds relabelled. As of now, however, I believe that it has not yet been fixed. (AMV 6/99)
White 'foliating' plaster from beneath the unit in the main E-W baulk and around it was added to this unit. A lense of ashy deposit (2295) and patches of brown loam (animal hole) was found south of main baulk.
11/8/98. Cleaned up to west curtain wall and into extended zone next to the E wall of bld3. Next to E wall, small animal figurine (X.3) was found.
16.8.98. BV During cleaning of 2270 on the W end of the E-W baulk (main) a human spinal column (articulated) was encountered. Excavation and recording of this items was turned over to human bones specialists.
