Unit 22831
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: GDN
Interpretive Categories: midden
Data Category Information: Location: in abandoned building; Deposition: coarsely bedded (dumps)
Discussion: The unit was easily visible due to its difference of texture, consistency and color. The unit was the fill of the cut (22832), created in the deposited room fill as a part of the retrieval pit. The unit 22831 was formed anthropologically, by gradual deposition of wastes and ashes. The unit fill can be plausibly connected with the neighboring unit 22834; due to their similarity in color and consistency although there are differences in their depositions – in the pit (22831) and as a fill of a room (22834). The unit is characterized by high amount of finds especially animal bones, pottery, shell and obsidian flakes. In the unit were also found artifacts – remains of stone and bone tools, finished and unfinished shell beads and a damaged stamp seal. The unit was excavated after its recognition as the plausibly the youngest of the visible units after removal of backfill of the trench (22802). The entire unit was excavated up to arbitrary basal boundaries on its northern part and to arbitrary eastern cut which was left as stratigraphic indication.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
X Finds Material: nothing recorded
Finds Material Stored: nothing recorded
