Unit 22864
Category: Layer dug in 2015
Area: GDN
Interpretive Categories: mudbricks
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick
Discussion: This unit consists of eight layers of mudbricks that along with 22865 (mortar) form a wall in NE corner of GDN 2015 trench. The wall was placed underneath an infill (22863). Its mudbricks were bonded and most probably formed a SW corner of an unidentified building. The wall was adjacent to E and N walls of B. 81 annex and to N wall of B. 74/62. It is possible that the wall's top layers were placed on top of B. 81 annex E and N walls but due to severe erosion it was not clearly visible.
Wall built of 22864/5 was later truncated by a foundation cut (22872) for wall 22860/1 or wall f. 2882 belonging to B. 74/62. The wall's basal boundary was identified arbitrary - its lowest layers were not excavated.
