Unit 23048

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: raised area (platform); Material: pise-like; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: This is a levelling layer along the entrance platform F7954 that lays on top of another packing of B131 that is layer 23058, that lays on top of initial construction/levelling layer of B131 - unit 23110. It should be noted that this layer is significantly thicker along the eastern wall F7712. Initially layer 23058 looked somewhat similar to the midden deposits found in SP610 but it turned out that this layer is a packing layer (one would expect to find some form of platform restriction under earliest make-up and plaster layers) composed of redeposited midden material that was mixed with light yellow clay packing. All packing and levelling layers were initially raised along the eastern wall F7712, probably in anticipation or even prevention of the sinking of that wall due to looseness of layers on which it was built. Not only is layer 23110 from construction phase but it also predates the walls (which was obvious once F7712 was removed) and that would make layers 23048 and 23058 additional packing layers providing support for the ever problematic eastern wall of B131 BEFORE the first floors were plastered .

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
