Unit 23429
Category: Layer dug in 2017
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: Fill of Basin
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: basin
Description: This is the earliest fill of Basin F7642; it includes compact yellow-white material and a thick layer of plaster at the bottom and the edges of this feature.
Discussion: U23429, the earliest fill of F7642 was yellow, compact, but easy to excavate. At the bottom and the edges it was white, compact and more difficult to excavate. Samples S1 and S2 correspond to the yellow-off white (pise like) part of this fill of the basin. Samples S2 and S3 correspond to the structural plaster of this platform-basin: base and edges. The eastern plaster rim of Basin F7642 was not identified in 2017 and must have been excavated during the previous years. The northern rim of this Basin seemed to go up against the E-SE of Platform 7638; and its northern rim, up against the extension of Platform F7637, i.e. U23444. Basin F7642, was the latest addition in the West of Building 52, space 94; Fill U23429 seemed to have been used to transform this Basin into a platform or a step, filling it up to the level of the floors of Platforms F7638 and F7637.
