Discussion: Individual Sk. 23799 is an adult female that died during the final stages of pregnancy and was buried with the baby in utero. The body position is loosely flexed and the head is hyper-extended. Further analysis undertaken by the human remains lab revealed that the adult died between 25 and 35 years and that the baby was full-term (40 weeks gestation) and engaged in the female's pelvis. The skeletal pathology of the adult included significant posterior fusion of the thoracic and lumbar vertebral column, as well as advanced widespread osteoporosis. The left shoulder also displays significant skeletal pathology and there were six consecutive left ribs with healed rib fractures.
