Discussion: This fragment of brick initially appeared to be part of a continuos line of ashy material 2854 which runs beneath walls 96/68 and 98/272 and seemed also to divide them. From the surface it appeared that 2854 had been cut into to construct these later walls. However, on excavation (and in the early morning light!) the dividing strip (a) was revealed to consist of 2 courses of bricks and mortar. These were very similar in colour and consistency to those of wall 98/272 except at their Eastern extent where this fragment of brick 2862 was clearly different and distinguished by its light red/brown content. This unit may be a continuation to the south of wall 96/68, but its material is not identical, suggesting that it is probably yet another remnant of a wall excavated by Mellaart which no longer exists. It was not given an additional feature number because if the lack of obvious association to any clearly interpretable feature.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
