Unit 30720
Category: Layer dug in 2013
Area: TPC
Interpretive Categories: Pit fill
Data Category Information: Location: cut; Description: pit; Deposition: heterogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit
Discussion: This unit was recognized as a separate unit due to its grey color setting it apart from the surrounding orange soil. Due to the heterogeneous nature of the fill, and to the burnt pieces of animal bones and pottery sherds found in the fill, it is possible that this unit was a midden deposit that was accessed at different times. There was an interesting find of adolescent human teeth and maxilla which would be evidence against this being a standard midden deposit. Interesting. The pit is roughly circular with a quarter of its edge extending into the Western edge of the trench. The pit was excavated using trowel and brush.
