Interpretive Categories: mortar of buttress F3356

Discussion: This unit was recognized by ist texture and colour when wet and by ist texture only when dry. This unit is the result of the construction of the buttress F3356, as the unit 31112 (mudbricks of the buttress). So it is an intentional construction by man. The layers of this unit are quite compact but crumbly. We find them between the layers of mudbricks (31112). The mortar is dark-brown when wet and can be removed easily, whereas it is clair gray when dry, like the mudbricks and can't be seen (so removed) easily. 

 

Consistency: crumbly pieces of compact mortar 

Colour: dark brown when wet and clair grey when dried 

Texture: sandy silt 

Bedding: massive in one layer of mortar, but there are several layers of it in the buttress F3356 between the mudbricks (unit 31112) 

Inclusions: none 

Post-depositional Features: none 

Basal Boundary: flat
