Recognition: Recognised during cleaning + initially during excavation of oven floor (2865) when overcut into (3130). 

Definition: Not sure of definition at first but became clear during cleaning. 

Execution: Trowel/pick. 

Condition: Dry. 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: 10 YR 6/3 pale brown (dry), also, in centre of layer where affected by heating 10 YR 4/4 dark yellowish brown (dry) or 7.5 YR 4/4 brown (dry) 

Texture: silt 

Bedding: massive

Basal Boundary: abrupt/distinct/smooth to wavy/flat to gently inclined to west
