Dimensions: c. 0.40 x 0.40 m x 20 mm thick 

 

Discussion: Deposit seems to reach a basal boundary with room infill level below. Centre of unit has a dense ashy midden type deposit. Appears to be the first floor type levelled in after the room was filled. 

 

Recognition: layer visible by colour and texture 

Definition: defined well to S wall, eroded and diffuse towards N boundary 

Execution: trowel (overdug to the N) 

Condition: dry 

Consistency: loose and soft, surface broke clearly away

Bedding: layered- several floor layers 

Inclusions: charcoal 5%, flecks and small lumps, bone 2%, plant remains 2%, shell 2%, midden type deposit in centre of unit 

Post-depositional Features: some roots and slt 

Basal Boundary: anthropogenic, abrupt boundary, prominent by colour and texture, but uneven and pitted
