Unit 32510
Category: Layer dug in 2016
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: levelling surface
Data Category Information: Location: building; Description: general; Material: white clay; Deposition: composite (floors/bedding/plaster/packing/occupation); Basal Spit: unpainted
Description: Intentioanlly excavated out of phase whilst burials within Platform F7952 were removed. Cut from a section line 0.10m west of Platform 7952.
Varying in depth tapering to thinnest point towards centre of B131.
Discussion: Homogenous, deposited in a single episode. Withou full excavation can not be certain but seems to run up to but not on to Platform F7952. Visual inspection of section showed that 32510 runs underneath 32527. Similarly, a visual inspection of the walls of the cuts of burials F7961 and 7963 showed that 32510 doesn't run across the surface of the platfor F7952.
Sealing an earlier rubble deposit and raising the height of the floors of B131 to form a horizon commensurate with later phases of use of the Hearth f7957 and a later use horiron of Platform F7951, both to the south of B131. 32510did not extend westwards enough to determine what if any relationship it had with the features to the west of B31 particularly Platform F7950 and Partition F7990.
Given the depositional characteristics and the homogeneity of 32510, and its relationships with other features of B131 it is likely that 32510 is a levelling layer.
