Unit 3391
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: plaster on rim
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Description: basin; Material: plaster; Deposition: layered (wall plaster)
Dimensions: 0.60 m NW-SE; 0.06 m wide; up to 0.15 m deep
Discussion: Excavated plaster on outside of rim before recognised what the feature was, excavated remainder after removal of (3602). The plaster also ran around the corner to the N and lapped over layer (3701). (3701), on excavation, appeared to post-date the construction of the storage bin rim and on the northernmost part of the rim had apparently truncated the plaster. So although stratigraphically the sequence is (ascending) (3704) - (3701) - (3391), it's very probable that (3391) represents more than one plastering event and that the sequence is (3704), plastering event(-s), (3701), plastering event(-s). (Create an arbitrary layer to reflect this interpretation?)
Recognition: Recognised on cleaning after removal of (3371) and (3385), distinctive colour light yellowish brown, appears much more yellow than (3371) which is much whiter in appearance.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
