Unit 3395
Category: layer dug in 1998
Area: South
Interpretive Categories: floor,oven structure
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: oven; Material: occupation; Deposition: multiple
Dimensions: 0.11 m N-S x 0.40 m E-W; 0.01 to 0.03 m deep
Discussion: Although associated with a potential bottom of the origianl untruncated oven (if this is the case), the unit feels and looks more like a floor layer, with several layers of plaster type material and a possible packing layer below it. It breaks down onto a salty and ashy type layer synonymous with a floor level found intermittently in space 150. The fragmentary nature of some of the unit feels like a floor level. Further light trowelling seemed to confirm that it was a floor level.
Recognition: White plaster layer sitting over more ashy/grey layer.
Definition: Diffuse towards E, but clearer N + S boundary.
Execution: Trowel.
Condition: Fairly dry.
Consistency: firm
Colour: ranging from 10 YR 8/1 white of surface to 6/3 dark brown in centre, small amounts of darker material
Texture:
Bedding: layered, several plaster levels and a possible packing /infill level (the brown), the layers are not continous though is fitting with other floors
Inclusions:
