Discussion: Earlier floor of oven, built before walls of oven (3365).
Recognition: Found as concrete layer when floor (3383) removed. Also under ash deposit (3606) in E.
Definition: Curved up at E to form edge of oven 268. Broken in N and surface stops before edge of later oven although broken crumbly part of this unit continues.
Execution: Leaf.
Condition: Hot.
Consistency: very compact surface, friable beneath
Colour: 10 YR 7/4 very pale brown fading down to 10 YR 4/4 dark yellowish brown
Texture: loose sand 30%, burnt clay/silt 70%
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: small phytoliths 20%, white salts <1 mm 2%, ash lenses same as (3707)
Post-depositional Features: cracked on surface and disintegrating towards N, much looser, hollow in centre
Basal Boundary: surface; sloping down towards W and N, cracked, it has worn away to N and in centre (where thin ash lense was situated on top of it , 0.1 x 0.15 m), base; smooth/sloping to W and N/flat/abrupt/anthropogenic
