Recognition: First seen when cleaning up before excavating N half of (3712), at first thought possible part of (3712) but on excavation proved to be small deposit of material overlying an apparent hearth. 

Definition: Clear to E, less so to N and S, defined to W by baulk. To N another possible hearth feature overlying (3778)?? 

Execution: Trowel. 

Condition: Dry. 

Consistency: friable 

Colour: 10 YR 6/3 pale brown (dry) 

Texture: clayey silt, incl. small sand fraction 

Bedding: massive 

Inclusions: n/a 

Post-depositional Features: occ.2% salt flecks 

Basal Boundary: abrupt/distinct/wavy? (rough)/flat - slightly concave
