Dimensions: 120cm e-w, 50cm n-s, 7-8cm thick 

 

Discussion: Layer 4807 is comprised of compound layers of soft orangey and grey flecky layers and some plaster. Towards the eastern end of F488 it comes down onto a layer of plaster and its northern extent on this east end is defined by a possible bin arm which contains this plaster. At its western end it becomes thinner and ends level with the east arm of F 518. Unit 4807 is very similar in composition to layers 4805 and 4794 above. 

 

Recognition: Orange silty layers soft 

Definition: Defined by edges of bin (earlier phase) 

Execution: Trowel 

Condition: Good 

Consistency: Soft 

Colour: Layers-mixed colour-orange, biege, light grey 

Texture: Very soft-silty clay 

Bedding: Compound layers 

Inclusions: Some shell (small) <2%, small fragments bone <2% 

Post-depositional Features: roots and large brown 

Basal Boundary: Very prominent distinct and smooth-overlies plaster base, towards west overlies flecky grey silty material and basal boundary not very distint- fairly faint, but smooth
