Discussion: 5132 was the remnants of the base of an oven or hearth F 556, associated with the earliest phase of use of building 23 /space 178. it consisted of a cracked, baked yellowish centre and the scorched reddish brown silty material surrounding this and was interleaved with fine layers of ash. 

Consistency: Friable, crumbly 

Colour: Orangish-brown onthe surface; deep rich reddish brown towards the base (particles of grey ash on the surface) 

Texture: Clayey silt 

Bedding: Layered 

Inclusions: 5% tiny flecks of charcoal, < 2% flecks of burnt bone, obsidian, ash and shell 

Post-depositional Features: None obvious 

Basal Boundary: Sharp, smooth and distinct lying within cut 5133
