Unit 7960
Category: layer dug in 2004
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: bin fill
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: bin; Deposition: homogeneous
Discussion: Tracking: Full-On.
This unit excavated the soil the the west of the plaster line dividing 7959 and 7960. This line was interpreted as a later phase wall of the bin, if the bin was ever one whole bin, or the eastern edge of the bin if 7959 was a platform rather than a bin. The plaster line was removed in order to excavated this unit, and to understand the relationship between 7959 and 7960.
The bottom of the bin had a very thin plaster surface similar to that in 7959, but 2-3 cm lowe than that of 7959. At the same level approx. as the surface in 7959, there is a cut in the plaster along the southern wall behind 7960, but excavation did not show any surface, so the reason for this cut remains unclear, perhaps there was an unplastered surface at the level of the surface of 7959 in 7960?
Thickness of unit estimated in PX (DE 18/07/09).
