Discussion: This material is in contrast to the units of dark coloured and heavily compacted oven floors which lie above and below it. Its general appearance resembles mudbrick. It is possible that it was associated in some way with unit 8011 oven floor which it surrounds although the edges of 8011 overlay it slightly. 

 

Recognition: Surrounding material is a completely different colour. 

Definition: Clear colour and texture contrast. 

Execution: Trowel. 

Condition: Dry. 

Consistency: Friable 

Colour: Orangey brown 

Texture: Silt 

Bedding: Massive 

Inclusions: Minute amount of gravel <3mm <1% 

Post-depositional Features: none 

Basal Boundary: Overlies a hard oven floor, very sharp boundary.
