Unit 8315
Category: layer dug in 2001
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: burial fill
Data Category Information: none
Dimensions: 63cm N-S X 12 cm E-W
Discussion: Unit consists of burial fill in eastern wall of burial cut of F.644. This burial fill represents the "bell" excavation of the burial cut through the upper floor levels. That is the burial art was greater in the levels lower then the original burial cut and was therefore not evident until we exposed floor #8. Floor #9 is evident in the profile and therefore suggests that the edge of the original burial cut has been reached in the upper levels. The midden is distinct below these floor levels as massive bedding layer. Human bones were located in the lower levels at the eastern aspect of the unit. These included: a tibial epiphysis, 2 metacarpals, a distal ulnar epiphysis, and 2 cervical vertebrae. These bones probably being to 8113 or 8114. Just north of these bones, also in the eastern sidewall there is a partially articulated foot. This foot is both articulated and disturbed since only part of the foot is actually present. The phalanges are in proper articulation however. Foot belongs to 8113. When disturbed 8113 must not have had one foot disturbed.
