Discussion: Multiple layers of plaster floor, and grey clayey make-up. At S end only 2 layers exist, running fairly level to the edge of the vertical plaster in the wall marking the S edge of the blocked gap. At the N end, the plaster layers are very thick, and lap up against the slightly overhanging built-up edge of the structure in NW corner. There are at least 4 layers of plaster, probably 5 or 6 at N end, and these dip sharply towards the gap in the wall. It was impossible to follow the chosen plaster layer all the way south - it jut disappeared at what I found was the S edge of the gap. A look in the 'section' formed by an animal run on the edge of Mellaart's excavation showed that there were indeed a further 5 or 6 layers of plaster in the 'gap' area, and nothing more in the S end apart from make-up clay.
