Discussion: Riddy clayey material above midden & below floor & walls of Mellaart's building initially thought to be a pit in NE corner of room & below wall, but turns out to be top of layer sloping down to south west, with midden material (much charcoal) immediately above it except that the wall on top NE corner lies directly on 1060. 1060 retained as the unit no. for top 10 cm. of this layer in that the top in not rifical the basal boundary in arbitrary.

Colour: 10YR 4/3 

Texture: Slity clay 

Bedding: Maasive 

Inclusions: Very few, <0.2 cm, 2%; Small stones & a few charcoal fragments. 

Post-depositional Features: No sign of anthopogenetic but top probably levelled.
