Unit 1188
Category: layer dug in 1995
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: fill of FI
Data Category Information: Location: feature; Description: oven; Deposition: homogeneous; Basal Spit: basal deposit
Dimensions: 0.35 x 0.08m, c.0.1m thick
Discussion: At the end of the excavation of this unit we found the outside (facade) of the FI which had been plastered. The plaster differs from wall plaster in its thickness and lack of multiple layers. Around the mouth of the FI we found some more stones such as those on the inside of the hearth in unit 1186. The wall of the FI is quite thin - 3-4cm. Beneath the plaster, the make-up of the wall appears dark brown and burnt.
