Discussion: Infill of phase I fire installation includes fairly unabraded , angular pieces/fragments ( only small sample pieces kept) of fire installation wall and/or ceiling, especially near the edges of the deposit; strongly suggests part of earlier oven/ FI11 knocked in to floor with other material & levelled off to make up the surface of the later phase II fire installation . Fairly thick, homogeneous deposit.
Execution: Hand pick, trowel.
Condition: Dry
Consistency: Weak- slightly firm.
Colour: 7.5YR 5/4 Brown
Texture: Sandy silt
Bedding: Massive
Inclusions: Charred plant remains 5% up to 4 cm; burnt mud brick fragments up to 6cm 5%; mortar fragment 2% up to 4 cm; upper wall/ ceiling fragments of F.I.11 up t o 6 cm, 2%.
Post-depositional Features: Rootlets 2%.
Basal Boundary: Prominent, smooth, flat, knife edge / very sharp <1mm.
