Interpretive Categories: mud brick

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous

Dimensions: 0,27m NS x 0,86m EW (exposed part) x 0,31m deep

Discussion: Three layers of bricks were excavated in the southern wall F.3624, building 108. The reason was that the supposed younger wall was to be removed. The bricks could only be partly excavated (only the northern half of the bricks) since they were incorporated (bonded)20416
in the southeastern wall, F.3623. To the west the wall was only excavated until the section wall at X1044. Excavated length c. 0.86m.

Further excavation in 2013 by a. klimowicz:

In 2013, the excavation of the bricks U.20415 had been continued after seizing their execution in 2012. It was possible to record only 7 courses of the constructional material in the most eastern part of the mentioned wall. However, the arbitrary Western limit of the trench set up along the Grid line: E-1044,00, allowed to capture only the width (31cm) and the depth (8-10cm) of the bricks that were cut in the length of 60cm.

Further excavation in 2015 by A. Klimowicz:

In 2015, the excavation of the bricks U.20415 had been continued after seizing their execution in 2013. It was possible to record only 7 courses of the constructional material. However, the arbitrary Western limit of the trench set up across the Grid line: E-1043,00, allowed to capture more wall (F.3624) along 1m toward west. The feature preserved in that segment to the height of 0,60m.
Forthermore, there were 2 additional samples collected due to changed botanical protocol (S3) and for architectural analyzes (S4). In the course of the excavation the volume of executed deposit also increased (unsaved 124 L) up to total amount of 187,22 L.

Finds Room Information:

All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
