Discussion: ashy fill behind late oven lining 2398. A concentration of fire cracked stone was found to the south cast, rib bones appeared to line the edge of the fire installation .. it's not clear whether the location of these finds was deliberate or not. The ash appears to be a massive deposit is not built up in-situ a what appears to have happened is that the late lining was constructed on a slight slope, the place between the two walls was filled by 2076 which is likely derived from the oven activity.
this deposit was only partially dug in half section disturbed by animal hole contamination likely
NB/1 having reconsidered, the ash fill must pre-date the lining as there'd be no opening at the top to infill the gap the slope of the back of the later lining.. have been pushed against the soft ash fill
