Discussion: This unit represents the fill of the foundation trench dig to build southern wall f.7560 of building 129. It is very difficult to recognise as separate from room fill of building 131 below, a difference based primarily as looseness vs compactness of the soil as the difference in colour can be detected. The bricks of wall f.7506 (u.21191) were laid very securely and tightly into the bottom of the cut, helping to explain why using this fill is so difficult to identify.
Consistency: friable to loose
Colour: in centre, homogenous dark brown, mottled orange and dark brown elsewhere
Texture: silty loam
Bedding: massive
Inclusions: minimal charcoal
Post-depositional Features: animal burrowing
