Unit 30196
Category: Layer dug in 2014
Area: North
Interpretive Categories: brick from partition wall (F.3636)
Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: wall/blocking; Material: brick; Deposition: homogeneous
Description: partition wall divided Sp.501 and Sp.84
Discussion: This was a fragment of badly preserved brick that was eroded due to long exposure and accordingly influence of environmental conditions. The described unit number (30196) must be considered as the most northern part of a single, lowest (foundation) course of bricks that constituted wall F.3636. The latter feature was a partition wall oriented N-S within the western segment of B.108, dividing its whole interior to (western) Sp.501 and (eastern) Sp.84. Excavation of the bricks was related to the aim to study the northern segment of the mentioned building. For this reason, the unit was cut arbitrarily during the excavation in its southern part, along with the section line established for the excavation area in 2014. The northern extension of the brick seemed to be truncated. Taking into consideration the alignment of the partially preserved wall F.3637, standing toward the North (along the prolongation line of the F.3636) and orientation of both, it can be assumed that the truncation might have been involved with performing an access linking Sp. 501 and Sp.84. The position and little thickness of the preserved course of bricks (0,03m), that were sunk within the deposit indicate the wall was set directly on the surface of a preparation layer (U.30189) and it was erected before performing floor plasters.

Finds Room Information:
All material from site passes through the finds room for washing and separating before it is passed onto the various lab teams. The finds room keeps a basic inventory of what is found. A finds material type list is given here. Further analytical detail maybe provided by the Lab Team data below.
