Area: GDN

Interpretive Categories: mudbricks

Data Category Information: In Situ: in situ; Location: feature; Material: brick&mortar

Discussion: The structure was defined just underneath the surface within a trench GDN2013.N that was opened within the framework of research aiming to examine the outlines of and the relationship between the buildings of the upper levels exposed during the 1960’s excavation seasons. It is a heavily disturbed and truncated mud-brick marker of post-Neolithic burial (F.7480) that is situated on top of the preserved courses of the half-thick brick wall (F.7474) on west-east alignment.
The mud-brick structure, that tends to have originally surrounded the skeleton (30423), was partly and most probably truncated and removed during Mellaart’s excavation. It’s remaining southern and eastern parts were preserved with geotextile and left unexcavated.
